Is Digitech drop good?
This pedal works great – does exactly what I was hoping it would do (allows me to keep my guitar in E standard but drop to lower tunings w/out needing to change string gauge, adjust set-up, etc). A couple things to note (not complaints – just things I’ve noticed to keep in mind).
Is the Digitech Whammy DT worth it?
Hands down the best way to change your guitar’s tuning, with no loss of tone. Plus you get all the familiar Whammy functions. It’s pricey, but it’s worth it. As a side note: this is my first effect on my chain.

With a latching footswitch, you hit the footswitch to activate the effect, then to deactivate the effect you hit the footswitch again. What is this? The toggle switch on the face of the pedal allows you to choose which mode you want the Drop to operate in. This gives you complete control over the footswitch.

Where should a drop pedal go in chain?
You generally want pitch effects after distortion but before delay/reverb, but if you can’t put it in between, then go before both. I put mine at the beginning of the chain. Its is a weird pedal but it works pretty well.

Dynamics (compressors), filters (wah), pitch shifters, and Volume pedals typically go at the beginning of the signal chain. Gain based effects such as and overdrive/distortion pedals come next. Modulation effects such as chorus, flangers, phasers typically come next in the chain.
