How do you identify queen bee?
Most beekeepers can identify the queen by sight, but if you’re new, you may have trouble picking her out from the worker bees. The queen bee is larger, but more specifically, she is longer. Her lengthy abdomen extends out beyond the tip of her wings, giving her the appearance of having short wings.
What does a Carniolan queen bee look like?
Anatomy and appearance. Carniolan honey bees are about the same size as the Italian honey bee, but they are physically distinguished by their generally dusky brown-grey color that is relieved by stripes of a subdued lighter brown color.
What is the difference between Russian and Italian bees?

Both species are usually gentle and can be kept in areas with people without problems. There are many differences between the two subspecies of bees; some say the Carniolan queens are better for colder climates.

The queens lay a lot of eggs starting early in the spring, which makes them build up their populations early, and they are able to maintain the high populations in the bee hives through out the summer months.
