Can I complete U.S. passport application online?
Passport applications cannot be submitted online. Fill out the application by hand. Download the passport application form (DS-11) and instructions (PDF, Download Adobe Reader) and complete the application by hand, or go to a local passport acceptance facility to get a copy to fill out.
How long does it take to get a brand new U.S. passport?

Should I use DS 11 or DS 82?
If you’ve never had a passport of any sort before, go to a passport office and use Form DS-11. However, if you already have a passport (even if it’s a passport book instead of a card) and you would be eligible to use Form DS-82 for a renewal, you can use it to apply for a passport card by mail.
What does Type P mean on a U.S. passport?

So what does the “P” stand for? P-type passports are “Personal passports.” These are the same blue passports that are issued to ordinary citizens for personal purposes like business trips, vacations, or traveling and studying abroad.
What does the new passports look like?
The most noticeable change with the new and improved passport is the enhanced data page, also known as the page with a traveler’s name, photo, date of birth, and nationality on it. The photo is now a laser engraved black-and-white image and the page itself is much more durable with high-tech imagery on it.
