How long does Shermax caulk take to dry?
For best results, a minimum of 4 hours dry time is required before painting with latex or oil base paint. Allow extra dry time during periods of high humidity and/or cool temperatures.
What is elastomeric sealant?
ELASTOMERIC SEALANT is a mastic containing elastomeric bitumen, volatile solvents, asbestos-free fibers and mineral fillers. It enhances waterproofing protection when used with RESISTO membranes and waterproofing strips. It can also be used as a caulking mastic and for filling joints and cracks.
Is elastomeric caulk paintable?
Be sure the window-and-door elastomeric sealant you buy can be applied in low temperatures, has zero shrinkage, and is either paintable or available in a wide range of colors.
Does Big Stretch caulk stick to itself?
It works well and does stretch more than other caulks I have tried. Some problem joints will still tear it, such as butt joints, but Sashco says that their products will stick to themselves, so you can just reapply Big Stretch right over it if it tears.
When can I paint over Big Stretch caulk?
Big Stretch accepts latex paints/stains within 4 hours. (Wait at least 24 hours with low-end latex paints. Some low-end, flat latex paints may crack over Big Stretch, regardless of cure time.) If using an oil-based paint/stain, allow 1 week to cure.
