What size finials do I need?

Most lamp finials have a ΒΌ-27 thread and screw onto a lamp harp. Some lamps do require a finial with a larger hole. This is usually a 1/8-ip thread and measures approximately 3/8″ in diameter.

How do you convert Tab back curtains to traverse rods?

If you want to use a traverse rod, that opens and closes with the pull of a cord, you need to alter your tab-back panels to accept a drapery pin. Just by making a small single-finger pleat, the curtains can accept a pin and hold the folds in place as the curtains are opened and closed on a traverse rod.

Do I need a traverse rod?

If you want your curtains and drapery to be functional rather than just for decoration, traverse rods are a great option because they prevent the wear and tear that would normally occur when manually drawing your curtains open and closed.

Do finials come in different sizes?

Finial sizes vary greatly. A finial can have a length as small as 1.5 inches or as long as 9 inches.

How do you pick a finial?

When choosing the best curtain finials, look at the color, material and shape. These elements should coordinate not only with your curtains and window wall, but the whole room. Much like the way kitchen cabinet door hardware can make a great style difference, the same is often true for curtain finials.

Can I use regular curtains on a traverse rod?

Ideally, no since traverse rods only work for pinch pleat curtains. Regular curtains will not evenly hang in a traverse rod. But with a few sewing and pinch-pleating, you can turn regular curtains into pinch pleat curtains.

Can you put rod pocket curtains on traverse rod?

Although the traverse rod system was made for pinch pleat curtains, you can adapt almost any rod pocket curtain to work on the rods.

What is the purpose of a finial?

A finial is an element that accents the top or end of an object usually for decorative purposes. In architecture it is employed to emphasize the top of a spire, tower, dome, roof, or other prominent feature of a structure. Like a flock of birds, several finials may be called pinnacles.
