For students taking the online Smarter Balanced mathematics test, no external calculators are permitted unless explicitly stated in the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium: Usability, Accessibility, and Accommodations Guidelines1.
Is the Smarter Balanced Assessment hard?

The Smarter Balanced scale is a vertical scale, which means that student performance in all grades is reported on the same scale. This allows educators to compare a student’s scale score from a test in one grade to that student’s scale score from a test in another grade.
