Is RACV Australia wide?
RACV is a member of the Australian Automobile Association (AAA) and has affiliations with motoring organisations across Australia and overseas. Members who have purchased an Emergency Roadside Assistance product are entitled to receive reciprocal benefits from many of these organisations.

Can I call RACV if I not a member?
Can I get roadside assistance if I’m not already a member? Yes, even if you’re not a Budget Direct Roadside Assistance member, you can still call us for help if your car breaks down. Non-members are required to pay a non-refundable service fee of $100, in addition to an annual membership fee of $89.95.

Can I join RAC and use it right away?
When will my cover start if I buy today? As long as you haven’t broken down already, your breakdown cover will start as soon as your payment has been accepted. If you have Standard or Unlimited cover, you’ll be covered for Roadside Assistance and At Home, and a 10-mile tow for the first 24 hours.
Can I use someone else’s RACV membership?
Membership cards are not transferable. A Member must not lend to another person or permit another person to use the Member’s RACV Club Membership card to gain access to the Club premises or for any other purposes.

Can I buy breakdown cover and use it straight away?
If you buy a standard breakdown policy your cover won’t normally start for at least 24 hours, whereas instant breakdown cover will start straightaway. Some providers may offer you limited cover immediately after your purchase until the full cover kicks in 24 hours or so later.
