When did the CAE exam change?
In September 2017, Cambridge English started the process of changing the names of our exams. We introduced Cambridge English Qualifications as the new way to describe our in-depth exams.
When was CAE last revised?
The most recent updates took place in 2015. The main differences are: the overall exam is now 45 minutes shorter; there are four exam papers, instead of five; the Reading and Use of English papers have been combined into a single paper, and there are some new testing focuses and task types.
Is Cambridge CAE difficult?

Do I get FCE if I fail CAE?
Even if you fail to successfully complete C1 Advanced (CAE), you can still get a B2 level certificate that corresponds to the B2 First (FCE) exam.

Is grade B in CAE good?
CAE Scoring Grade B is awarded to candidates who score between 193 and 199, and anyone who scores between 193 and 180 receives a Grade C. Note that each of these scores falls within range of the CEFR proficiency level.
Is CPE harder than CAE?

Does Cambridge CAE expire?
Your Cambridge English exam result/certificate does not have an expiry date*. It shows that on a particular date you demonstrated language skills at a specified level, however, language skills are known to diminish over time if not used and maintained.

Can I get C2 in CAE?
If you achieve a scale score of 200–210 (grade A) in your exam, you will receive the Certificate in Advanced English stating that you demonstrated ability at Level C2. If you achieve a scale score of 180–199 (grade B or C) in your exam, you will be awarded the Certificate in Advanced English at Level C1.
Is Grade B in CAE good?

There are no pass or fail levels in the individual papers. Your marks for each paper are added together to calculate your result for the whole examination. We have made enhancements to the way we report the results of our exams because we believe it is important to recognise your achievement.
Is CAE accepted for Australia immigration?
The Australian Department of Home Affairs accepts C1 Advanced, formerly known as Certificate in Advanced English (CAE), scores for student visa applications and many other visa programmes.
