How do you move the image on a projector?

A vertical lens shift allows the projector to move the image up and down, and a horizontal lens shift allows a lens to move from side to side. Like keystone correction, lens shift corrects the distortion of the image.

What is the best thing to use for a projector screen?

Typically, a blackout cloth or actual projector screen is the best choice for your projector screen choice. Other materials will work, but with some reduction of quality. Blackout cloth is the best as it’s cost-effective and absorbs light from the projector, so colors stand out more.

Does a projector screen need to be flat?

A projector screen is flat and has a special coating designed to enhance its reflective qualities. That ensures a brighter and more detailed image than you’d get with a wall or sheet. Since projector screens have a defined border, this can help frame a TV show or movie in the center of your home theater or living room.

Can you project onto a curved wall?

Registered. Standard projectors have lens systems designed to produce a rectangular image that’s in focus from edge to edge on a flat screen or wall. When projecting on a curved screen or wall they can’t produce a perfectly rectangular image and the image can’t be perfectly in focus across the entire screen.

Do all projectors have lens shift?

Briefly, all projectors have lens offset, even if that offset is 0%. Lens shift is available on only some projectors.

How do you fix a skewed projector?

To correct the skewed image, rotate the projector clockwise (rotate right) until the image is rectangular. To correct the skewed image, rotate the projector counter-clockwise (rotate left) until the image is rectangular. To correct the keystoned image, decrease the vertical projection angle to level the projector.

Will a white sheet work for a projector screen?

Just like above, a plain white sheet works best. It doesn’t have to be a bedsheet, either. Any piece of smooth, white cloth will do the trick. The trickiest part of using a sheet as a projector screen is hanging it properly to avoid wrinkles, folds, or movement.

Does a projector need to be straight on?

A projector does not have to be centered on the screen if the projector has the horizontal lens shift range to move the image onto the screen. Not all projectors have horizontal lens shift, which is not the same as keystone correction.
