What is a Grade BD bolt?

Grade BD bolts are higher in strength than grade BC, and equal in strength to ASTM F3125 grade A490 bolts. Unlike A490 however, the A354 standard is unrestricted in its configuration.

What is ASTM A354 Grade BD?

ASTM A354 Grades ASTM A354 Grade BC is similar to BD with little lower strength. Grade BD. ASTM A354 Grade BD should be considered for anchor bolts, threaded rods, other styles of headed bolts, and bolts larger than 1-1/2″ diameter where similar mechanical properties are desired.

What is ASTM A307?

ASTM A307 Grade A is a standard material specification for medium strength carbon steel fasteners specially bolts, studs and threaded rods for general purpose applications. Grade A is a heat treated carbon steel bolting material with minimum tensile requirement of 60 ksi and hardness range from 121 to 241 BHN.

What is the difference between A307 and A325?

Compared to A307 bolts, A325 are generally higher strength. As such, they are used for different applications. The ultimate tensile strength of A325 bolts is 120 ksi, double that of an A307 A grade bolt. One can imagine that A325 bolts would be used for much more durable applications.

What does 307a mean on a bolt?

ASTM A307 Grade A Carbon Steel Bolting with minimum tensile of 60 ksi. ASTM A307 Grade A is grade specification in carbon steel bolting for use in general purpose application. This grade covers hex headed bolts, stud bolts, threaded rods or any other bolting having a minimum tensile strength of 60 ksi.

What is a Grade B nut?

Strength exceeds Grade 2. ASTM A325. Bolts meet ASTM A325 Type 1 standards for structural steel joints. Grade B Nuts. Strength is similar to Grade 5.

What are F3125 bolts?

F3125 Heavy Hex Bolts These structural bolts have a shorter thread length and a longer shank length. In structural bolting applications, this allows the bolt’s threads to not be in the shear plane (where the two plates meet up).

What is bolt Group A and B?

1, Group A is composed of those materials that have a tensile strength similar to ASTM A325, and includes ASTM A325/A325M, F1852, A354 Grade BC and A449. Group B is composed of those materials that have a tensile strength similar to ASTM A490, and is composed of ASTM A490/ A490M, F2280 and A354 Grade BD.

Are cold forged hex nuts strong?

Cold-formed parts exhibit excellent strength, as the material flows into its final form, rather than being cut by machining.

Is A563 structural?

The ASTM A563 specification covers carbon and alloy steel nuts for general structural and mechanical uses on bolts, studs, and other externally threaded parts.

What grade is a A563 nut?

ASTM A563 GRADE A HEAVY HEX NUT 1/2-13, PLAIN.

What is the difference between A354 BD and A490 BD?

A354 BD should be considered for anchor bolts, threaded rods, other styles of headed bolts, and bolts larger than 1-1/2″ diameter where properties similar to A490 are needed. A354 grade BD does not require a magnetic particle test. Lower in strength than grade BD.

What is the difference between grade BC and grade BD bolts?

For fastener diameter sizes above 1 1/2 in., Grade BC may be considered for structural steel bolting where tensile strength above 120 ksi is necessary and Grade BD may be considered for structural steel bolting where tensile strength above 150 ksi is necessary.

What are the different grades of bolting strength?

Two levels of bolting strength are covered, designated Grades BC and BD. Selection will depend upon design and the stresses and service for which the product is to be used. Hardness, tensile strength, yield strength, elongation, and area reduction shall be tested to meet the requirements prescribed.

What is a BD intake manifold?

The BD Competition Series Intake creates large flow increase for high performance competition Cummins engines. get ultimate flow and remove the grid heater and grid plate restrictions without having to machine the factory cylinder head. the oe manufactured 3.5L manifold only utilizes 8 stud locations leading to many issues.
