How do you backspace on Android?

Now, when you want to erase a word or multiple words, touch your finger to the Backspace key (the key to the right of “m”) and immediately slide it toward the left. The farther you slide it, the more words that’ll be highlighted and selected.

Why is there no Delete key on Android?

Probably the main reason is space limitation. There’s only so much space to put keys, so the decision was probably made a while ago to put the more commonly used Backspace key, rather than the Delete key.

You can highlight a full word by only using your keyboard if you hold down the Shift and Ctrl keys, and then press the arrow key in the direction you want to highlight. For Apple keyboards that only have a Delete key and not a Backspace key, pressing delete removes the text before the cursor.
