What is the difference between top feed and side feed injectors?

A – The difference lies in the fuel delivery “feed” to the injector. A top feed injector receives it’s fuel from the top of the injector, where the injector top plugs into a fuel rail. The side feed injector receives it’s fuel from the side of the injector, where the injector is nested in a fuel rail.

Is STi top feed or side feed?

Side feed injectors (like the STi’s) get pumped fuel into slots on their side and top feed injectors get pumped fuel through the top of the injector. To change from side to top feed you will need to change your fuel rails.

How do side feed injectors work?

For side feed injectors the fuel enters through slots machined into the sides of the injector. The fuel rail is combined into the inlet manifold or cylinder head. Top feed injectors: As the name suggest fuel feeds into the injector from the top.

What is bottom feed injector?

Bottom feed injectors receive their fuel supply near the bottom of the injector (Fig. 1). These were typically used on throttle body injection units, however some manufacturers are beginning to use them on port fuel applications.

What is a feed injector?

Top feed injectors are the most abundant and make use of a common fuel rail. Although there is a wide variety of top feed injectors they all operate on the same basis. The top of the injector is pushed into the fuel rail. An O-ring forms a seal between the injector and the fuel rail.

What are TGV deletes?

The TGV delete kit eliminates the factory’s restrictive butterfly valves that are located in the intake runners. By eliminating the factory TGV, intake air flow becomes unrestricted and is increased to each cylinder.

What is the activation voltage for piezo injectors?

The piezo injectors are operated by up to 200 volts, 15 amps.

What are bottom feed injectors?

What is an injector hack?

Code injection is the exploitation of a computer bug that is caused by processing invalid data. The injection is used by an attacker to introduce (or “inject”) code into a vulnerable computer program and change the course of execution.

How much HP does a TGV delete add?

23 whp
The TGV delete kit adds a great deal of power on the top-end of the rpm range, starting at around 5,000 rpm. We are making maximum gains of 23 whp and nearly 21 wtq.

What does a TGV delete do WRX?

What is the difference between piezo and solenoid injectors?

Piezo injectors are quieter and more precise than solenoid units, a benefit in a microsecond environment, but they are more expensive. In both cases, the common-rail principle remains the core of diesel injection systems. A single (common) high-pressure fuel line is connected to individual injectors at each cylinder.

How can you tell if you have a piezo injector?

The majority of piezoelectric injectors may be recognised by the location of the leak off pipe, located at the side of the injector and not on the top as seen on the electromagnetic type. The operating fuel pressure within modern common rail systems may exceed 1,800 bar, or 26,100 psi.

What does TGV delete do WRX?

What is the difference between top feed and Side Feed injectors?

A – The difference lies in the fuel delivery “feed” to the injector. A top feed injector receives it’s fuel from the top of the injector, where the injector top plugs into a fuel rail. The side feed injector receives it’s fuel from the side of the injector, where the injector is nested in a fuel rail. Bulk Injector Parts. Injector parts.

Can I use WRX fuel injectors in STI?

I only mentioned the WRX because it uses top feed injectors and would have the correct injector connectors for the top feeds. If you try and change the STI over to top feeds, you may have to wire in WRX connectors so you can plug them into the engine harness. The TGV injector “seats” are also different.

Can a WRX TGV be converted to topfeed?

The WRX TGVs have a “narrower” seat for the injector. So, to convert to topfeeds, you’d need: new WRX specific fuel rails, WRX specific TGVs (or WRX specific TGV deletes), WRX topfeed harness connectors.

Is it possible to convert the STI to topfeed?

So, to convert to topfeeds, you’d need: new WRX specific fuel rails, WRX specific TGVs (or WRX specific TGV deletes), WRX topfeed harness connectors. It’s obviously much cheaper to just replace the STi injectors with drop-in sidefeeds.
