Should I watch American History X?
Every one should watch this movie at least once. But given the brutal yet realistic hateful violence in this movie (especially the curb stomp scene and the waterboarding of staff in an ethnic market), not to mention the pervasive language, it’s not suggested for young viewers under 18.

Powerful and gripping from beginning to end. American History X provides a great performance from Edward Norton and a graphic tale involving the influences of society in the household and relationships. Very explicit, destructive and compelling, the film makes a strong mark that’s as challenging as its direction.

Unfortunately, despite the fact that American History X is one of the best films in years, it is horribly underrated. Much like Norton’s last film, Primal Fear, which was also a great movie, this movie did not get nearly the recognition that it deserves.
