Manufactured in Mettlach since 1852, these tiles achieve great success throughout the world under the name of Mettlacher Platten. Demand is so great that a factory specialising in tile manufacture is built in 1869 – the Mosaic Factory. In 1879 Villeroy & Boch takes over a further factory in Merzig.

- Screw the seat hinges from above into the toilet attachment.
- Attach the seat.
- Adjust the position of the seat precisely and tighten the screws.
Can you fix a soft closing toilet seat?
Tip: If your soft-close toilet seat’s hinges are not adjustable, you can replace them with a new set, which costs less than $15 USD, to make your seat work like new again. You could also replace the entire seat for around $50 USD or less. Use your fingers to push the hinge dampers back into the hinge assembly.
Why has my soft-close toilet lid stopped working?
If your soft-close seat isn’t working like it used to and you can’t adjust the hinges, you might have to fix it by replacing the hinge dampers with a new set.
