What does the Naemt do?

The mission of the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT) is to represent and serve the EMS profession through advocacy, education, and research.

Can angiomyolipoma cause kidney disease?

Angiomyolipomas are benign (not cancerous). Fat (adipose), smooth muscle and blood vessels make up these tumors. If the tumor grows too large, it may cause symptoms such as bleeding, anemia, fever and kidney pain.

Are angiomyolipomas painful?

Patients with renal angiomyolipoma often have flank pain, a palpable tender mass, abdominal discomfort, fever, and gross hematuria. Hemorrhage occurs in 15% of angiomyolipomas and in 50% to 60% of tumors larger than 4 cm.
