What is Decapeptyl injection used for?
Triptorelin (Decapeptyl® or Gonapeptyl®) is a hormonal therapy drug used to treat prostate cancer. It can be given alone, or with radiotherapy or surgery.
How often can I use triptorelin?
When used for prostate cancer, an injection of 3.75 mg of triptorelin (Trelstar) is usually given every 4 weeks, an injection of 11.25 mg of triptorelin (Trelstar) is usually given every 12 weeks, or an injection of 22.5 mg of triptorelin (Trelstar) is usually given every 24 weeks.
How long does Decapeptyl stay in your system?
After withdrawal of treatment, ovarian function resumes and ovulation occurs approximately 5 months after the last injection. A non-hormonal method of contraception should be used throughout treatment including for 3 months after the last injection.
Is triptorelin a chemo?
Chemoprotective drugs, such as triptorelin, may protect normal ovarian cells from the side effects of chemotherapy.
How long will hormone therapy work?
You may be offered hormone therapy for up to six months before radiotherapy. And you may continue to have hormone therapy during and after your radiotherapy, for up to three years. Some men might have hormone therapy on its own if radiotherapy or surgery aren’t suitable for them.
How does Decapeptyl help endometriosis?
In the first week or two the Decapeptyl will stimulate your ovaries before switching them off and entering you into a menopausal state. You therefore may have a short period where your symptoms get worse but will gradually improve over the following month or two.
How many injections do you need for IVF treatment?
Depending on the course of specific treatment and cycle, a patient may receive up to 90 shots per cycle with a frequency of 1–2 injections per day.
Does Decapeptyl reduce testosterone?
Administration of Decapeptyl SR 22.5 mg to patients with advanced prostate cancer as an intramuscular injection for a total of 2 doses (48 weeks) resulted in both achievement of castration levels of testosterone in 97.5% of patients after four weeks and maintenance of castration levels of testosterone in 93.0% of the …
