Amaterasu is the playable protagonist of Ōkami. She is also known by villagers of Kamiki Village in her past life as the dreaded Shiranui, who was thought to be a familiar of Orochi. She is nicknamed Amako by Ishaku and later Issun in the original Japanese version of Ōkami, or Ammy in the localized game.
