The main difference is that you can physically (and electronically, of course) ‘hard-link’ the iPad to the X18 while you have to rely on wireless (for an iPad) with the XR18. Also, the XR has Aux outs on XLR’s while they are TRS on the X-18. Other than that, it’s just the form factor (and size).
