How do you know if your spokes are tight enough?
If you simply just turn the spoke (or nipple) until it feels tight or turn it as far as it will go with a spoke wrench, it may be too tight. It is important to check the tension after each time you tighten a spoke. This way if it is too tight, you can loosen it before riding.
How do you even out spoke tension?
To increase the tension, turn all of the spokes around the entire wheel 1/4 counter clockwise and then measure again. Repeat this step until your spoke tension is within range all the way around. Then true your wheel as explained in the video titled “How to True a Wheel“.
