Castle Rock’s famed Vaqueros sandstone originated as submarine fan deposits on the continental shelf about 30 to 40 million years ago. The deposits were elevated and moved north by repeated violent movements along the tectonic plate boundaries now defined by the San Andreas Fault.

What is there to do at Rock River State Park?
This “newer” state park has fishing and hiking trails of which we have not done. We took a short visit and climbed the stairs to the top of the rocks overlooking the Rock River. The view is fantastic. This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
