Level 3 Nipple, 6 months+ As a baby’s feeding develops and they are taking a longer time feeding from a Level 2 nipple, many parents choose to move up to a Level 3 nipple. Can you boil Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature bottles?
Can you boil bottles to sterilize them? Yes you can. You’ll need to make sure that bottles, nipples and other baby feeding items are submerged in boiling water for at least 10 minutes. If you use this method regularly the heat may damage some items more quickly so you may need to replace them more often.

How do I know if teat is too fast?
If the nipple is flowing TOO QUICKLY, your baby may:
- Gulp or choke.
- Purposely let milk dribble out.
- Make frowny eyebrows and look worried.
- Turn head or pull away from the nipple.
- Spread fingers apart with hands open.
- Lose eye contact (while bottle-feeding)
How many bottles does a newborn need?
Newborn babies generally feed between 10 and 14 times in 24 hours, with feeds becoming a little less frequent as they grow. If you are exclusively bottle feeding your baby, whether formula or expressed breastmilk, you might want around four to six bottles and teats to get you started.
