What material are pennants made of?
Custom Printed Pennant Flags are typically made out of felt or fabric depending on the final needs of our clients. Felt Pennants are used for schools, sports teams and hobbyists while fabric pennants are used as yacht burgees, pole flags and economy school pennants.
How do you display felt pennants?
Wall Hanging One of the most basic ways to display a pennant is by hanging it on the wall. Do this using nails, tacks or even sticky wall mounts. Hang the pennants vertically, horizontally or on a slant, depending on your preference and the overall design of the room.
How do you hang wool felt pennants?
Press a piece of poster putty onto the back of all three corners of the pennant flag. Put the remaining putty pieces along the long edges of the pennant. Press into place on the wall’s surface. This will hold felt and fabric pennants, but periodically add new putty for maximum hold.
What is stiffened felt?
To stiffen felt you would need a substance such as glue, starch or cornflour to soak into the felt and let it dry. This will create a strong bond between the fibres of the felt and create a stiff sheet.
How do you stick felt pennant to wall?
You can hang pennants on the wall with small nails, such as framing nails, thumb tacks or poster tacks, placing one in each of the pennant’s three corners. These can potentially make for a good-looking part of the display, but a major drawback is leaving holes in the pennant itself as well as the wall.

- Cut out your desired pennant and use a hole punch to cut out the small circles. For this tutorial, I used the large triangle in my template.
- Cut out the pennants with a paper cutter.
- Determine how long you want your bunting and cut the string to that length.
- You may now decorate your banner or just hang it!
Which way should a pennant hang?
Pennants can be hung straight or at an angle, as long as the wording is legible. You don’t want to hang it upside down. No matter how you decide to hang it, first hold it up where you want it and make a few marks with a pencil. Banners can also be hung on windows from suction hooks.
How do you permanently stiffen felt?
Common fabric stiffeners include glue, sugar, gelatin, cornstarch, hairspray, and even wallpaper paste. Some commercial sprays, glues, and interfacing will permanently stiffen fabric.
Can the Cricut maker cut felt?
My Cricut Maker is my go-to machine for cutting felt, using the Rotary Blade. The Rotary Blade comes with the Maker and cuts the felt like a pizza cutter, vs. dragging a blade across the felt to cut it. I find this works MUCH better than the fine point blade.
Can the Cricut cut felt fabric?
YES! You can cut felt with the Cricut Explore and the Cricut Maker. There are more options for cutting felt with your Maker but you can most definitely cut felt on most of your Cricut machines.
How big should a pennant banner be?
These sports flags are of sideways-triangle shape and sometimes attached to sticks for easy waving ability. While sports pennants come in multiple sizes, standard measurements are in the 12 inch by 30 inch range.
