Avoid raw vegetables and fruits, and other hard, dry foods such as chips or pretzels. It’s also best to avoid salty, spicy or acidic foods if you are experiencing these symptoms. Your care team can recommend nutrient-based oral care solutions if you are experiencing mucositis or mouth sores caused by cancer treatment.
Does breast radiation affect the eyes?
Though uncommon, breast cancer treatment may affect your eyes and vision, including causing red, itchy, or dry eyes; watery eyes; blurry or double vision; or making you see dark spots. Though not a common side effect, breast cancer treatment may affect your eyes, including your vision.
Does radiation to breast affect lungs?
Very rarely, radiotherapy to the breast area can affect the lungs. This can cause breathlessness.
Can I take vitamin D during radiation?
Not all vitamin and mineral supplements have antioxidants. For example calcium, vitamin D and vitamin B12 are not antioxidants. These vitamins and minerals are safe to take during your radiation treatment.
Does tamoxifen cause blindness?
Extensive retinal lesions and macular edema with visual impairment have been reported in a few patients receiving high-dose tamoxifen. Less extensive retinal changes may occur in patients receiving low doses for long periods, and isolated retinal crystals may be observed in patients without visual symptoms.
