Can REI members return without receipt?
When making a return or an exchange at REI we ask that you have a proof of purchase with you. Here is a list of some of the things that qualify as a proof of purchase: Register Receipt. Gift Receipt.
Can REI look up receipts?
Visit your local REI store’s Customer Service team and inquire about your purchase history. Contact our Customer Support team at (1-800-426-4840) or via Live Chat and they can look up your purchases.
Can you still get a refund without a receipt?
Faulty items Under the Consumer Rights Act as long as you return an item within 30 days of purchase you can do so without a receipt and still have the right to a full refund. If you don’t want to return or exchange the item then you can ask for it to be repaired.

If you have bought someone a present, you can give them the gift receipt in case they don’t like it, and then they can take it back to the store and exchange it for something else.
Can you exchange without gift receipt?
Some stores will let you return anything, even without a receipt. Others have time limits and restocking fees. If you believe it’s the thought that counts, then you won’t be offended if the recipient of a present you’ve given can’t use it for whatever reason.

A few years ago, we updated our Satisfaction Guarantee to limit returns to one year after purchase. We still cover defects in manufacturing, however we do not cover wear and tear or damage due to accidents or improper use.

Yes, absolutely. In fact the record of your transaction history with REI has a KPI that scores your return habits. How much did you buy vs how much did you return? They also track your lifetime profitability to them.

Starting Tuesday, REI will try to discourage customers from “renting” equipment for as long as they like by ending its policy of no time limits on returns. Customers will be allowed to take back store items for one year after purchase. The deadline for returning outlet merchandise bought on REI.com will be 30 days.
