Amidst the battle Théodred was slain by an Orc-man and his body was defended by the marshal Grimbold. When Elfhelm arrived with reinforcements he found Grimbold fighting two axemen for Théodred’s body. His body was buried where he fell, on the fortified eyot in the middle of the Fords of Isen.
