An attempt to make a 2010 DSLR work as a webcam. Back in 2010, Nikon built a nice 14.2MP entry-level DSLR camera – the D3100, which I was using for some time now. It’s a nice camera, and for 99.9% of cases it works perfectly well.

Howdy @islamibrahim – Unfortunately there’s no way to go beyond the maximum recording length of 10 minutes. This is a limitation with the D3100. As for pausing, you use the ‘Movie Record’ button (small round button with an orange dot) to start recording and end recording.

No you can not, there is no mic input in the D3100, that would be in the D7000. You could though use an external recording device like the Zoom H4N and sync in post production, which instead of a mini mic input you get pro XLR with many other controls and features than what a camera would have.
