The Sarala Mahabharata , as the first Odia “translation” (more appropri- ately, rupantar ) of the Sanskrit Mahabharata is referred to even now, is. the work of the 15th century Odia poet, Sarala Dasa. It was transmitted. orally for over three centuries, and transcribed on palm leaves.
