What is down scan on Lowrance?
DownScan Imaging™ – a fishfinding technology that gives anglers photo-like images of rocks, trees and underwater structure – was developed by Lowrance and patented by its parent company Navico®. It is a game-changing technology that provides clear images of structure – the areas where fish like to hide.
Do I need down imaging or side imaging?
What you need from your fish finder is going to decide which type of sonar is what you need. Side imaging is going to be more useful in shallower water or when you are scanning for shallow diving fish, whereas down imaging sonar is going to serve the deeper fisherman who are fishing vertically better.
What is the difference between down imaging and side imaging?
Side Imaging vs Down Imaging. The main difference between side imaging and down imaging fish finders is that down imaging fish finders read the water vertically while side imaging fish finders do so horizontally.
Can you use side imaging and Down Imaging at the same time?
If you own one of our High Definition Side Imaging products you can use a Down Imaging transducer with it to improve your Down Imaging readings. High definition side imaging products are only available in our HELIX 8, HELIX 9, HELIX 10, HELIX 12, HELIX 15 or 800 / 900 / 1100 Series of products.
Can I use the side imaging transducer with my down imaging unit?
Can you see fish with Down Imaging?
Humminbird Down Imaging uses a razor-thin, high-frequency beam to create picture-like images of structure, vegetation and fish. Down Imaging returns are oriented identically to traditional, down-looking sonar returns—with the most-recent information appearing on the right side of the screen.
Are side scans worth it?
While side imaging is not essential on a fish finder, it’s extremely helpful to have, as it allows you to rapidly scan large areas of bottom in search of fish holding structure, and so is definitely worth the extra cost.
