Are shower tray riser kits universal?

Riser kits will always be manufacturer specific and not universal, never choose just a random riser kit it must be suitable for your tray.

Can you raise a shower tray?

Fitting a raised shower tray is fairly similar to fitting a flat or low level shower tray, the only difference being that as opposed to fitting the tray directly on top the floor it’s raised off of the floor on either purpose built legs or a timber frame.

Why do you need a riser kit on a shower tray?

Shower tray riser kits consist of legs and a panel to allow you to more easily plumb in a shower tray, especially on a concrete floor where the waste cannot be sunk below floor level. The end result is a raised shower tray with a taller step up required to enter.

Can you raise a low profile shower tray?

Nearly all modern shower trays have a low level design, which provides easier access and creates a minimal look. Shower trays can be as low as 30mm deep, but if you need to raise the tray up, you can do so with a leg and panel set.

If you did want to raise your shower tray, a riser kit can be used—although, with the whole point being easy access, you would then face a step up or step down when getting in and out of your shower enclosure.

How do you install a shower base on a concrete floor?

  1. Remove enough concrete to allow space for the waste pipe.
  2. Place pipe and drainage tool into the hole.
  3. Test the pan to make sure it fits properly.
  4. Apply mortar to the concrete base.
  5. Place the shower tray over the mortar, pressing firmly.
  6. Screw the drain into place.
  7. Let the mortar dry for 24 hours.

Can you stick a shower tray down with silicone?

Using either tile adhesive, silicone or a weak cement mix (5 parts sand/ 1 part cement) apply sufficient to board to cover entire underside of tray. Apply a minimum of 5mm thickness to lowest point of tray. More may be required in places to ensure tray is level.

How high should a shower tray be off the floor?

A traditional shower tray height is around 40-50mm and, when combined with a riser kit, can be anywhere up to around 100mm.
