What is the purpose of a DMZ?

A common DMZ is a subnetwork that sits between the public internet and private networks. The end goal of a DMZ is to allow an organization to access untrusted networks, such as the internet, while ensuring its private network or LAN remains secure.

When did PCI replace ISA?

ISA stands for “Industry Standard Architecture” and is a computer bus standard for IBM-compatible PCs. Developed by IBM in the early 1980s, it expanded the even older XT bus architecture from eight to 16 bits. For its part, it was increasingly replaced by the PCI bus in the mid-1990s.

How does ISA affect performance?

A poor ISA causes extra coding to be done to carry out operations… That extra coding takes extra time to be processed… thus a performance problem. In addition, the poor ISA causes more work to be done to create the compilers…

What is ISA in virtualization?

Instruction set virtualization is a processor virtualization technique that enables emulation of the instruction set of one processor on a different processor. It allows the running or emulating of the instruction set architectures of different processors among each other – delivered as a virtualization layer.

What is difference between PCI and ISA?

The ISA is longer (by about two inches), and thus the I/O cards that connect via ISA tend to be bulkier as well. Their differences do not stop there. PCI is a significantly faster (in theory) bus. PCI has double (or in rare instances, quadruple) the bit-width, resulting in faster data transfer.
