Why is chess so exciting?

It is such a great game because unlike any other games it only uses logic. You don;t need to be smart or rich to play it. You just need to know the game rules and chess moves. People from all oever the world play it because of its addicting logical thinking,us,included.

Is chess really fun?

Chess is one of those things that it’s more fun to talk or read about than to participate in. During an actual game, there usually isn’t much fun or enjoyment until you get to a winning position that you’re trying to convert. But you can’t appreciate it as much until the game is actually over.

Chess is a popular hobby that will allow you to find other people to play with. Chess teaches you specific skills or strengthens ones you already have such as problem-solving, pattern recognition, creativity, imagination, and logic. Finally, chess can be a lot of fun.

I would not say chess in itself is boring but long OTB games tend to get tedious. I like the concepts of the game but not “wasting” my free time when my opponent wants to burn through 3 hours of thinking time.

To some extent it is repetitive at least the opening is. Once you memorize a set of moves it becomes easy to avoid or deliver a postion that will put you in the advantage for the middle game. There are certain principles in the middle game that are repetiive.

Chess is a game and not a sport. And the same thing can be said about any game. Chess is not a waste of time, it makes us think and solve problems as we see them. It needs a lot of analytical thinking, tactics, memory (old games), hard work and studying.
