Is Pauper just commons?
In Pauper, you can only play with cards of common rarity. Anything above that, whether it’s rare, mythic rare, or even uncommon, is right out. These cards are too rich for a Pauper player’s blood. It’s commons only!

Why is Sojourner’s companion banned in pauper?
While many cards were considered for the ban – including Atog and Disciple of the Vault, they were saved due to the novelty of Affinity’s strategic angle. Instead, Sojourner’s Companion was banned to reduce Affinity’s consistency. The hope is that these bans will improve Pauper’s overall metagame health.
