Beading is a thin piece of metal that has a straight edge running along its length to ensure a smooth surface or angle for plastering over. To nail them in place simply align the stop bead and level it up where it needs to be fixed and then using special short galvanised nails, nail through the perforated edge into the timber stud beneath the plasterboard and the bead will be fixed firmly in place.

Fix bellcast beads onto a continuous line of render dabs, or better still, onto adhesive mortar to prevent slipping. Alternatively nail clouts or hammer-in plug fixings can be used along the length of the bellcast bead every 300-700mm. The beads are rigid enough for one person to fix alone.
How do you install rendering beads?
Set stop beads into the render dabs and push into reveals against window and door frames. Push corner beads onto external corners and tap to level. Once the beads are aligned, apply render over the wings and allow to set hard.
What size beads for render?
a 10mm bead can be used with a 15mm render providing that the bead is fixed to allow for sufficient render thickness. Some contractors prefer the assurance of using beads that are designed at the render specified thickness as to eliminate any on site risks.
Can you glue beading?
Although you can use an adhesive to fix your scotia beading to the skirting board, we would recommend you to go for the pin or stapled fixing installation method as it will be more stable.
