Can you swim in Clackamas Lake?
The lake is small and shallow. The facility is located in the Clackamas Lake Historic District in Mt. Hood National Forest. It provides access to fishing, swimming and leisurely boating, as well as a number of trails and historic points along the way.

Can dogs swim in Barton Springs?
Dogs are not allowed in the pool, but they are allowed in the park. There is a spillway below the pool that is informally called ‘Barking Springs’ and, while there is a leash law and warnings, the park folks pretty much ignore those that want to allow their dogs a dip.

Is there blue algae in Barton Springs?
The bacteria, known as cyanobacteria, gloms onto algae blooms in the creek. It first appeared in 2019 at dog-friendly spots like Red Bud Isle, Lady Bird Lake and the Barton Springs Pool spillway. The bacteria thrives in warm, stagnant water and is particularly well-suited to Austin.

Can I bring a cooler to Barton Springs?
It’s important to note that you cannot bring food into Barton Springs. (You can bring non-alcoholic drinks, if they are in a plastic re-sealable container with a twist-top lid.) We usually leave a cooler in the car and exit the pool to picnic by the playground.
Is Barton Springs free at night?
No Reservation Required. Only open Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday 8 am – 10 pm. No entry pass needed from 9 pm – 10 pm on Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday. Swim at your own risk hours are daily from 5 AM – 8 AM and do not require entry pass.
Is there toxic algae in Barton Creek?
Visitors to the Barton Creek Greenbelt can once again play in the water. Levels of a toxin called cylindrospermopsin have fallen well below EPA guidance values for recreational use. Cylindrospermopsin is one of several cyanotoxins which can be produced by cyanobacteria, also called blue-green algae.
