Does Mt. Hood have good skiing?
Mt. Hood has activities year round, but if you’re looking for downhill or cross-country skiing, the best time to go is between January and March when there’s more likely to be snow at all elevations. However, some of the Mt. Hood ski resorts are at a high enough elevation that you can even find some snow in the summer!

What is better Mt. Hood or Mt Bachelor?
Bachelor is a much more open and playful mountain than Hood. At Hood you get a lot of big mountain terrain but it’s really scaled down if you’re going to meadows. The other option on hood is timberline and ski bowl but those can be really boring if you’re not into park skiing.

How much is a lift ticket at Mount Hood?

Are helmets required at Mt Hood Meadows?
We always recommend wearing a helmet, which can be rented in our Rossignol Rental Center or purchased at the Outer Limits Sports Shop. They are warm, waterproof and provide protection.

We drove the Mt Hood Scenic Loop today and it is well worth doing if you are in Portland. The roads are excellent and the entire trip is picturesque.
Are chains required for Mt. Hood?
Travelers heading to Mount Hood will ecnounter congestion and snow packed roads along U.S. 26 and Oregon Highway 35. Chains or traction tires are currently required on the mountain. Before heading out travelers should use TripCheck.com for chain requirements.
How hard is Heather Canyon?
All areas of Heather, as the canyon is known, are considered “extremely difficult” double black diamond terrain. Meadows’ trail map warns that Heather and two other areas of the resort — Clark Canyon and Private Reserve — aren’t patrolled on a regular basis and have avalanche danger at all times.
