We have had the ESAM 3400 now for some 7 to 8 years ( not entirely sure to be honest), anyway within 2 to 3 years we had to replace the boiler (like a few others on these reviews). First $100 to check what was wrong and then another $400 to fix it, no coffee for 3 weeks!
