Is Fastmail end to end encryption?
The reason for that is simple – Fastmail doesn’t have end-to-end encryption. It uses encryption, but just server-side. This means that the service provider could theoretically access your communications, which is something that would be impossible with end-to-end encryption.
Is Fastmail a good email provider?

How safe is Fastmail?
Whenever you send a message to someone outside of Fastmail we have to send it across the open internet. Since January 2010 we have fully encrypted all connections between us and the receiving server whenever the other server supports it, preventing passive eavesdropping, tampering or forgery.

No mail has been lost. The routing issue causing interrupted access to Fastmail services for some users remains ongoing. Affected users appear to be located in/around Washington, Oregon, and Alaska using Wave Broadband (and possibly other providers). We’re continuing to investigate with our datacenter.
