Is J Crew a good place to get a suit?

J. Crew is a whole separate frugal collection that is a great place for picking up everything from on-point trends for shirts and pants but also surprisingly decent quality sport coats and modern, slim fit suiting. They do play the price-high, sale-high game, so don’t ever pay full price.

Can J Crew suits be tailored?

Crew tailor suits? J. Crew doesn’t offer tailoring services. Get your best size and take it to a local tailor you trust.

How tight fitting should a suit be?

Your suit jacket should cover about 80% of your butt and crotch. Generally, the bottom edge of a jacket should end between the two knuckles on your thumb. This rule can be pushed a little bit when wearing a casual sport coat because they tend to be a little shorter.

Is J Crew Factory worse quality?

Crew Factory simply sells old, unwanted stock at a heavily discounted price. But these ‘deals’ might not be what they seem. Rather, the outlet store is actually selling knock-offs of its own products, creating a separate line of lower-quality goods that look similar to what can be found in the main retail store.

Is J Crew a good brand for men?

Crew is pretty great. J. Crew has cultivated a reputation for offering stylish, well constructed staples that are simultaneously modern and classic: From high ticket items like their exceptional Ludlow suits, to small accessories like wallets and gloves.

Is a full canvas suit worth it?

In short, a full canvas suit will fit better than any other option. Canvas also improves the durability of a jacket by distributing tension from stress points (such as the elbows and shoulders).

Should suits be tight or loose?

You want to be able to pinch around 1 inch of fabric on either side of your thigh. If it’s less than that, your pants are too tight. If it’s more, have your tailor slim the legs with a slight taper so that it gets narrower towards the ankle. This will look great on every body type/size.

Do suits loosen over time?

The answer to the question of whether a suit that is too small will stretch out over time to fit better is no. If you are wondering whether wetsuits have a shelf life, the answer is yes. Due to wear, regions that are stretched severely, such as the armpits, thin out over time.

Does J Crew Factory run large?

They didn’t have a Medium in the store so it’s a Large and is bit big on me. I already have a blue striped top that will be in my Spring capsule wardrobe, so I passed on this one. But, it is so cute! If you don’t have one, it would look great for the Spring season!

Why is the price of a J Crew jacket so much lower at an outlet mall?

Is J. Crew low quality?

Crew’s Overpriced, Low-Quality, Ill-Fitting Clothes. In light of all of the many recent reports to the tune of “Millennials Killed J. Crew” or the various iterations thereof, it is worth looking back at an article from December 2016, which shed light on what it was that J.

Is J. Crew still popular?

Crew was arguably the most popular clothing brand in the US in the 2000s. The company filed for bankruptcy in 2020 in the midst of the novel coronavirus pandemic. But sales were declining before the pandemic ever hit, proving the pandemic acted only as a catalyst.

What size suit do I wear?

If you look at the size label of a suit, you will most likely see a double-digit followed by either S, R, or L. For example, 38L. The first number is the jacket chest size (which won’t always match your actual chest measurement). The second is the jacket length.

What kind of shirts do J Crew make that feel broken in?

Crew neck/V neck/pocket tee/color block/nautical stripeare just some of the options. If you can think of it, J. Crew probably has it. Most J. Crew T-shirts tend to be made of a very light and thin cotton (their broken-in line) and really feel like they’ve been broken in.

What to do if a suit jacket is too big?

If the jacket you’re trying on is too big or small in the shoulders, put it back and find the one that does. Tailoring is a beautiful thing, but in terms of shoulders, it ain’t worth the squeeze (and is near-impossible). Your flat hand should slip easily into your suit under the lapels when the top (or middle) button is fastened.

Where do you put sleeves on a suit jacket?

Jacket sleeves should fall where the base of your thumb meets your wrist. If you’re a watch-wearer, a tailor can take up the sleeve of your shirts and jackets a little more as to more adequately show off the goods, but generally speaking, this guideline sets you up nicely for achieving the next step.
