What is a cavity drain?

A Cavity Drain system is made up of a cuspated membrane applied to the walls and floor with a channel at the wall/floor junction. The membrane allows any water ingress to filter down to the slab and find its way to the perimeter channel. The channel directs the water to a sump pump which is situated below the slab.

How thick is a drainage cavity?

Vertical surfaces should be protected, by casting concrete against the Cavity Drain R20, or by building an inner masonry wall. Inner masonry walls may be tied back into the Cavity Drain R20, by fixing into the Brick Plugs. A similar method can be adopted should a ‘dry lining’ system be required.
