What is a HUD 2530?

Form HUD-2530 must be completed and signed by all principals applying to participate in HUD multifamily housing projects, including those who have no previous participation. The form must be signed and filed by all principals and their affiliates who propose participating in the HUD project.

How does HUD define family?

According to HUD, a family is simply one or more individuals who live together. Members of the family do not need to be related by blood, marriage or in any other legal capacity. Family members who are away from the household for a certain period of time may be considered part of the family.

One of the most important parts of this process is the submission of HUD Form 2530, also known as the Previous Participation Certification. This form documents an individual and organization’s past participation in any HUD or FHA-insured multifamily projects, as well as those involving other housing agencies.
