What is Cisco FlexStack?

A Cisco FlexStack is a stacking solution for multiple physical switches that will act as a single unit, as in a logical switch. FlexStack is a specialised technology for the Cisco Catalyst 2960-S Series of fixed Ethernet switches. These Cisco switches can use the FlexStack hardware and protocol.

What is StackWise plus?

The StackWise Plus cables intelligently join the stack of switches forming a single logical stacking unit. Each stack has a single IP address and is managed as a single object. This single IP address management is used for things like fault detection, VLAN creation, security, and QoS controls.

How do you identify a master switch in a stack?

After a stack is set up, you can observe indicators on member switches or use commands to determine which member switch is the master switch. If the STAT indicator on a switch is steady green, the switch is the master switch.

What is Cisco StackWise technology?

The Cisco StackWise technology is used to link multiple switches and establish a single switching unit. StackWise unites separate fixed-configuration switches into one logical switching stack. The technology supports voice, video, and Gigabit Ethernet applications.

What is the benefit of StackWise virtual?

What Are the Benefits?

  • It is simple: The StackWise cables make it easy to virtualize two Cisco Catalyst switches into a single logical switch.
  • It is scalable: The fully distributed architecture increases network bandwidth for improved user experience.

How many StackWise cables do I need?

Minimum and properly, two stacking cables (data).

What is the maximum length of a stacking cable for switch stack?

Explanation : Switch stacking cables come in lengths of 50 centimeters, 1 meter, and 3 meters. The maximum length of the switch stack cable is 3 meters, or about 10 feet.

Can I daisy chain PoE switches?

Ensure you get good switches with large bandwidth backplanes. Each switch should be able to carry the traffic of the cameras on it and all the cameras daisy chained to it. Each port that connects the switches will also need to handle the full bandwidth load of everything before it.

Does adding a switch slow down network?

An Ethernet switch should not affect your network’s internet speeds, but it can in some circumstances. In a home network, your internet speeds can be only as fast as your slowest piece of equipment.

How does traffic flow on the StackWise 3750 platform?

Explanation : The StackWise 3750 has a backend loop of two counter-rotating rings. Each ring supplies 16 Gb/s in each direction. This allows for up to 32 Gb/s total traffic flow and also allows for redundancy.

Which switch in a stack is responsible for forwarding table and the Central ACL?

Explanation : The master switch is responsible for forwarding tables, ACL distribution, QOS, and multicast routing.

What is a flexstack cable?

Two FlexStack cables, inserted into the FlexStack module, provide data path redundancy for traffic flowing across the stack. Using FlexStack cables, the physical members of the stack form a ring, providing the built-in redundant data path for each member of the stack.

What is Cisco StackWise?

(C isco StackWise technology unites up to nine individual switches into a single logical unit, using special stack-interconnect cables and stacking software. The individual switches can be any combination of Cisco Catalyst 3750 and Cisco Catalyst 3750-E Series Switches.)

What are the advantages of StackWise over VSS?

The advantage of Stackwise over VSS is that you can add/stack around 9 devices at one go.Were as you cant do the same with VSS. Another advantage is that if stacking device does not require any configuration only that the device needs to be supported.

How much bandwidth can I get from flexstack?

Each FlexStack member can simultaneously send and receive Ethernet traffic over both stack links at line rate, effectively giving 40Gbps of stack bandwidth per 2960-X member and 20Gbs of stack bandwidth per 2960-S member.
