What is Tail f ConfD?
Tail-f’s ConfD software framework leverages the NETCONF and RESTCONF protocols and YANG data models and a centralized configuration database to deliver unified, programmable management capabilities. Today, creating new physical and virtual devices has never been easier or faster.
What is ConfD used for?
ConfD is an on-device management framework that provides a set of interfaces to manage a device. The ConfD framework automatically renders all the management interfaces from a data-model. ConfD implements the full NETCONF specification and runs over SSH with content encoded in XML.
What does tail f do?
The tail -f command prints the last 10 lines of a text or log file, and then waits for new additions to the file to print it in real time. This allows administrators to view a log message as soon as a system creates it.
How do I restart Confd?
You can’t restart just the ssh server itself but you can run the command “`confd –reload“ which causes confd to reload the configuration.
What is NETCONF and how it works?
NETCONF is a protocol defined by the IETF to “install, manipulate, and delete the configuration of network devices”. NETCONF operations are realized on top of a Remote Procedure Call (RPC) layer using an XML encoding and provide a basic set of operations to edit and query configuration on a network device.
How do you stop ConfD?
In combination with –stop-on-eof, ConfD will stop if it receives EOF (ctrl-d) on standard input. Note that to stop ConfD when run in foreground, send EOF (if –stop-on-eof was used) or use confd –stop.
What is a tail line?
Tail is a command which prints the last few number of lines (10 lines by default) of a certain file, then terminates. Example 1: By default “tail” prints the last 10 lines of a file, then exits.
Why is NETCONF needed?
NETCONF on the other hand is designed for device configuration and provides network-wide transactions, making it possible to change configuration for all devices in the network at once. A change will either succeed on all devices or it will not be activated at all.
What is tailing a log file?
How much does it cost to use confd basic?
Network Element Providers (NEPs) and Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) can download and use ConfD Basic — at no cost — to radically reduce the time and resources needed to implement advanced programmable management capability in their network elements and applications.
What is Tail-f?
Tail-f, a Cisco Company, is a pioneer and leader in network programmability and data model-driven device management. Tail-f has contributed heavily to the development of the NETCONF, RESTCONF and YANG standards in IETF.
What is the difference between the two versions of confd?
The two versions are ConfD Basic and ConfD Premium. What is the main difference between ConfD Basic and Premium? ConfD Basic is free to use subject to the terms of the ConfD Basic License Agreement and allows you to include NETCONF when embedded into your product based on standardized terms and conditions.
What is confd and why is it important?
Tail-f’s ConfD solution is ideal for producing programmable network elements that meet the next-generation networking requirements for NFV and SDN technologies. ConfD makes it faster and less expensive to build management interfaces.
