What is the block training method?
Block training consists of very hard workouts for two or three consecutive days followed by an equal amount of recovery (days off or active recovery rides). Block training works by producing a greater overload on your cardiovascular and musculoskeletal systems than is possible with many other forms of training.

What to do after training block?
Therefore, you have to provide your body with adequate rest after the training block. For example, you can do a four-day training block that consists of lactate threshold intervals (Day 1), VO2 max intervals (Day 2), a day off (Day 3) and an easy recovery ride (Day 4). By day five you should be fully recovered.

How Block training can help or hurt?
The block style training will produce bigger physiological improvements (VO2 max, pace/power at threshold, etc.) as well as better real word performances (time to exhaustion tests, time trials, etc.). It does so even when the workloads (total time, time at intensity, number of hard workouts, kilojoules of work, etc.)
Is 1 year too long to train for a marathon?
Starting your marathon more than six months out can increase your risk of injury and burnout. It would be wise to take the next few months and continue to invest in your “pre-season” preparation, including easy-paced mileage, strength training, and flexibility.

I’m surprised to see that there are so many straight-up positive reviews of Bloc. I’m a graduate of the Designer program, I can say they got some things right and some things still need work. I’ll start with the not-so-great. The curriculum around front end dev felt piecemeal and choppy.
What is the curriculum like at Bloc?
Bloc’s project-based curriculum is written by expert curriculum developers and vetted by their advisory board comprised of hiring managers. Students work with mentors 1-on-1 to clarify concepts, pair program, and build a portfolio of sites that will demonstrate job readiness as a professional software engineer.
Is the Bloc program worth it?
Having to do assessments after each module is a nice touch. You get the feel of what it’s like to do a real coding interview. Especially in the last module, where you will take part in a couple of mock interviews. This is by far the best part of the Bloc program and is worth mentioning.
