Which caste is kotia?

Kotia is a small hill tribe of Odisha. They live in Koraput, Malkangiri, Phulbani, and Kalahandi districts of southern Odisha and in the border areas of adjacent Andhra Pradesh. It is said that the ancestors of both Rana (a caste) and Kotia were sons of the same father but given birth to two separate mothers.

Where is Kotiya?

Kotiya village is located in Salur mandal of Vizianagaram district in Andhra Pradesh, India. It is situated 38km away from sub-district headquarter Salur (tehsildar office) and 30km away from district headquarter Vizianagaram.

How much is a Kotiya?

Here, a ‘Kotiya’ is equivalent to 1 million which is as I understand obviously wrong, in that a ‘Kotiya’ is 10 million or 100 lakhs. Then the word milliyana is used in Sinhala. This must be the equivalent of 10 lakhs – a lakh being 100000.
