When did Jungle Larry’s close?
SANDUSKY – Many longtime Cedar Point fans will remember “Jungle Larry” and his wife “Safari Jane” and the wildlife attraction they opened at the amusement park in 1964. It stayed open for 30 years, until 1994, lasting 10 years after the 1984 death of Larry Tetzlaff.

In 1964 Lawrence Tetzlaff, known as “Jungle Larry,” a highly respected zoologist, opened a wild animal exhibit at Cedar Point. By 1965 Jungle Larry’s exhibit was located in the lagoon area of Cedar Point known as Safari Island.
Is Jungle Larry still alive?
Their two sons became zoo professionals and there is a third generation in the field. Larry died in 1984.
