Who makes Specialized Turbo Cotton?

Lion Tire
The Turbo Cotton is made by Lion Tire (a subsidiary of Vittoria) in Thailand with that company’s 320tpi Polycotton casing fabric and Specialized’s proprietary puncture breaker material and Gripton tread compound. The tread design is borrowed from the time trial tubulars Specialized provides its top pros.

How long do Turbo cotton tires last?

about 3500 miles
This has practically eliminated any issues on the road during my rides. The tires ride smooth and take corners extremely well. I expect these tires to last about 3500 miles or so.

Do tires have cotton in them?

The body ply is a calendered sheet consisting of one layer of rubber, one layer of reinforcing fabric, and a second layer of rubber. The earliest textile used was cotton; later materials include rayon, nylon, polyester, and Kevlar. Passenger tires typically have one or two body plies.

How much faster are latex inner tubes?

The result was that latex tubes were five to 5.5 watts faster per tyre using this methodology. The results were consistent with Vittoria’s claims and suggest that by using latex inner tubes you do indeed have lower rolling resistance, allowing you to travel faster for the same effort.

What are cotton Tyres?

Cotton tires are known for their high thread count and supple ride-quality. Among clinchers, they’re touted as having the least rolling-resistance and most closely resembling a tubular-esque ride. For this, among manufacturing reasons as well, many cotton clinchers are known as ‘Open Tubulars. ‘

What is cotton tire?

Are specialized turbo tubes latex?

Latex weight without the annoyances These tubes are some of the lightest and pack down super tight.

Do pros use latex inner tubes?

Some latex-based sealant manufacturers suggest not to use their sealant in the latex tubes. For the pros we put latex tubes into our Competition Pro tubulars, however for consumers, there isn’t a latex tube that meets Continental’s minimum safety standards.

What are the benefits of radial Tyres?

Advantages of radial tyres

  • Good steering and better road contact.
  • Improved driving comfort thanks to flexible side wall.
  • Little heat generated in tyre at high speeds.
  • Higher resistance against tread-related damage.
  • Lower fuel consumption.

What is a tire casing?

The tire casing is the body of the tire and includes components such as the bead, belt system, sidewall, body ply and inner liner—basically everything except the tread.

Do bike tires make you faster?

Wider tires are faster Tire rolling resistance comes from internal friction within materials (energy loss due to hysteresis) and small bumps that lift the bike and rider. When it comes to internal friction, wider tires have shorter contact patches and, thus, less deflection.

How long do unused bike inner tubes last?

An inner tube, inside a bike tire and not exposed to high levels of ozone or petroleum fumes (or UV light), can easily last 10-20 years.

What does 700x40c mean?

The first number refers to the diameter and the second number is the tire width. On a 700x40c tire, the first number indicates that the outside diameter is approximately 700 millimeters. Tread and tire width can affect the overall diameter, so the 700 is always a rough estimate.

How good are Specialized Turbo cotton tires?

Just like the Continental Grand Prix TT (read review), the Specialized Turbo Cotton is a very, very fast tire with limited puncture resistance and tire life. These tires will save you 5+ watts for a pair of tires when compared to the most popular all-round tires that provide better puncture resistance and will last a lot longer.

Does the specialized s-works turbo cotton really have the lowest rolling resistance?

Specialized says that the S-Works Turbo Cotton produces the lowest rolling resistance of any road tire the company has ever offered. Such bold claims are oftentimes ultimately written off as little more than marketing hyperbole but this one is wholly believable.

Are specialized s-works turbo cotton tyres compatible with Roval wheels?

The Specialized S-Works Turbo Cotton tyres are now available in 24, 26 and 28mm at varying weights and here I’ve tested the 26mm (weighing a claimed 240g) on a set of Roval CLX 50 wheels. Of course Specialized will have tested and developed these S-Works Turbo Cotton tyres on its own Roval wheels so the interface here works very well indeed.

What is the difference between a turbo Cotton 28 and 28?

Happily, the Turbo Cotton 28 tire is very similar to its predecessors, sharing that supple casing and light weight, 260 grams for the new model. There are a couple key differences, however. The 28s have a wider tread — 40mm, which is 8mm wider than that of the smaller tires.
