How does Campagnolo shifting work?

How to use Campagnolo road bike shifters. Campagnolo shifters are slightly different again – a shift lever behind the brake lever shifts into a larger cog/chainring on both the front and rear, while a thumb-operated paddle on the inside of the hood shifts into a smaller cog/chainring.

Are Campagnolo shifters compatible with Shimano?

We’ve used Ergopower with Shimano front derailleurs with success, but a Campagnolo front with Ergopower shifters is ideal. You’ll need a 9-speed Shimano-compatible cassette to complete the package, which can also save weight over 10-speed cassettes.

What is Campagnolo Ultra Shift?

Thanks to the Ultra-Shift™ patented system; you can move the chain simultaneously up 3 sprockets and then 5 down. Furthermore, the lever design allows for an ever lighter shifting, whilst maintaining the “click” sound featured on all Campagnolo® controls.

How do I get rid of Campagnolo hood?

Be careful when stretching the hoods off the lever – the Campy rubber is stretchy, but can tear around the slit for the thumb button. Best to pull the rubber up and over the thumb button then pull/stretch the hood from the top up and over the horn and then down and off.

Can you use a Shimano 10 speed cassette with Campagnolo?

Tiagra 4700 remains compatible with any Shimano/SRAM 10-speed chain and cassette. Campagnolo 11-speed shifters and derailleurs from 2015 onwards are not backwards compatible with 2014 or earlier versions.

Are Campagnolo and Shimano cassettes compatible?

Yes. Campagnolo wheels are compatible with both Shimano and SRAM components. In order to use Campagnolo wheels with any drivetrain on the market, Campagnolo produces two kinds of freewheel bodies: one specific for Campagnolo drivetrains (from 9 to 11 speeds) and one for non-Campagnolo drivetrains (from 9 to 11 speeds).

Can I put a Campagnolo cassette on a Shimano hub?

The basic difference and reason why we need to change freehub bodies between groupsets is that the splines on the body are a different pattern, so a Campagnolo cassette will not slide onto a Shimano/SRAM body. Similarly Campagnolo will not fit on the other.
