What are the sizes for ear stretching?

It’s often recommended that you start with 16 or 14 gauge when you first start stretching your ears. Stretching your ear larger than 2 gauge is often considered “the point of no return.” Once you stretch your ear to this point, you’ll likely need surgery if you want the hole to fully close.

What are ear hangers?

Traditionally, ear hangers are large gauge earrings worn in stretched lobes that hang below the earlobe, hence the name “hangers”. They may be dangle large gauge earrings, thick spirals, U-shaped large gauge earrings, or other large gauge earrings in a variety of other styles.

Do ear hangers stretch?

They are Not a Stretching Tool! The way ear weights work in terms of stretching, is that they will only stretch the skin on the very bottom of your ear lobe. When stretching your ear you would want to avoid this.

Is it OK to leave tapers in?

They are only for wearing in healed stretches as jewelry because they are porous and can carry too much bacteria. Once your ears are healed, stone tapers are a really pretty choice of jewelry. In general, tapers are only recommended for wearing in smaller gauges as jewelry.

How heavy should ear hangers be?

For example a 10mm ear weight just needs an ear stretch of a minimum of 10mm and will happily sit in much larger stretched ears. So our ear weights come with a ‘minimum required’ lobe size….

light 10g -20g
medium 20g – 30g
medium heavy 30g -35g
heavy 35g +
