What happens if you smoke after an endoscopy?
We strongly encourage you to not smoke within 24 hours of your procedure. This includes cigarettes, pipes, cigars, e-cigarettes and other substances. Smoking can cause complications during or after the procedure. Failure to comply may result in the cancellation of your procedure.
Can u smoke before gastroscopy?
The upper GI tract must be empty before upper GI endoscopy. Generally, no eating or drinking is allowed for 4 to 8 hours before the procedure. Smoking and chewing gum are also prohibited during this time.
