What does Eui stand for?
Energy Use Intensity
EUI stands for Energy Use Intensity. It is the energy use per square foot at a property (energy divided by square foot). EUI enables you to compare different sized buildings. Watch our 3 minute video on EUI.
What is EUI 64 address?
EUI-64 (Extended Unique Identifier) is a method we can use to automatically configure IPv6 host addresses. An IPv6 device will use the MAC address of its interface to generate a unique 64-bit interface ID. However, a MAC address is 48 bit and the interface ID is 64 bit.
Is a high Eui good?
Generally, a low EUI signifies good energy performance. However, certain property types will always use more energy than others. For example, an elementary school uses relatively little energy compared to a hospital.
What happens when the EUI-64 address is generated?
EUI-64 (Extended Unique Identifier) is a method we can use to automatically configure IPv6 host addresses. An IPv6 device will use the MAC address of its interface to generate a unique 64-bit interface ID.
What is the average EUI of a home?
Median EUIs in the United States
Market Sector | Property type | Source EUI (kBtu/ft2) |
---|---|---|
Lodging/Residential | Multifamily Housing | 118.1 |
Lodging/Residential | Prison/Incarceration | 156.4 |
Lodging/Residential | Residence Hall/Dormitory | 107.5 |
Lodging/Residential | Residential Care Facility | 213.2 |
What is a good Eui for a home?
Energy intensive homes and buildings might have an EUI between 100 and 200 kBtu/sf/yr, while high performance homes and buildings might have an EUI of 25 kBtu/sf/yr or less. The Passive House standard requires less than 14.6 kBtu/sf/yr.
How do I assign EUI-64?
The IPv6 EUI-64 format address is obtained through the 48-bit MAC address. The MAC address is first separated into two 24-bits, with one being OUI (Organizationally Unique Identifier) and the other being NIC specific. The 16-bit 0xFFFE is then inserted between these two 24-bits for the 64-bit EUI address.
What is the difference between a MAC address and a EUI-48 address?
The distinction between EUI-48 and MAC-48 identifiers is merely nominal: MAC-48 is used for network hardware; EUI-48 is used to identify other devices and software.
Can we change the MAC address?
The MAC address that is hard-coded on a network interface controller (NIC) cannot be changed. However, many drivers allow the MAC address to be changed. Additionally, there are tools which can make an operating system believe that the NIC has the MAC address of a user’s choosing.
